Move with Pride 2023

Tacoma pride is better in community! This year at ascent we celebrating with community, teens and members and have 3 great opportunities to join us.

Saturday July 8th - Queer Class & Open House 

Curious about Ascent? Come kick off Tacoma Pride weekend by joining us for a rainbow-filled, fun, and inclusive workout followed by an open house which includes a tour of our new space, info about membership and intros with some of our coaches! Join us for one or both! We can’t wait to see you! Members are encouraged to attend and bring your gym-curious friends and family! 

Saturday July 15th - Barbell Disco

Our Summer Lifting Event and culmination of our Lifting Club is here! Members will showcase all the hard work they’ve been doing in a rainbow and disco themed lifting meet. Lifts will feature the deadlift, back squat and bench press. Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up early! Pride party and BBQ to follow!

During This one week camp we will provide a holistic and body-positive introduction to the world of strength training and movement. Together we will develop the skills and mindsets to cultivate satisfaction, competency and empowerment within the gym. In addition to learning foundational lifting skills, each day your teen will have the opportunity to safely explore a range of movements including; calisthetics, natural movement, kettlebells and barbell lifts, learn to take care of and maintain their bodies, consider and discuss body positivity, nutrition and diet culture, and build community with other teens in Tacoma. Our classes are inclusive spaces that welcome any and all skill levels, interests and motivations.Together we will eliminate binaried words such as “healthy” and “unhealthy” and approach fitness with a positive and exploratory mindset. Our goal is to foster an exciting space for teens to develop an understanding of their bodies, their physical capabilities and be empowered in the gym and daily life.
